8th June 14 Milton Pools Cambells

Remenhams new season kicked off with the medal winners final at Milton Pools on Cambells Lake. Pete Bowles fished the pole at 8 metres using meat and caught carp steadily to weigh in a match winning 118lb 2oz. Just behind in 2nd place on the opposite was Geoff Edwards with 115lb 8oz of carp caught on the pole using pellet and 3rd was Paul Howard with 90lb 8oz of carp.

 

15th June 14 Cheriton Farm

The following week saw the first match of the Summer Series held at Cheriton Farm  Farley Hill. Dave Wightman led the way in this match as he caught small carp and the odd skimmer close in on the pole alternating between meat and red maggot weighing in 111lb 4oz. In the next peg was Geoff Edwards who fished the pole close in and down the edge with pellet catching carp and skimmers to weigh in 84lb to finish 2nd place for the second week running and in third place was Dick Shillitto with 69lb 12oz of carp. Section winners were Pete Bowles with 60lb 6oz and Trevor Pearce 59lb.  

 

22nd June 14 Wood Lane

The second leg of Remenham's summer series took place at Wood Lane Fishery near Iver. After finishing in second place for the past two weeks Geoff Edwards went one better and secured victory in this match with an impressive 153lb 2oz of carp all caught on the floating feeder alternating between red maggot and pellet on the hook. In second place was new club member Simon Boweren who fished the pole shallow at 14.5 metres with pellet to weigh in 130lb 6oz of carp. Finishing in third position was Trevor Pearce with 100lb 12oz of carp caught on the floating feeder. Section winners were Steve Johnson with 76lb 8oz and Pete Bowles with 98lb 8oz.

 

29th June 14 Bowsaw 16-29

Geoff Edwards continued his his fine form as he once again won the latest leg of the Remenham Summer Series held at Bowsaw Lake near Odiham the third in the series. Geoff fished the pole at both 8 metres and 16 metres with meat and pellet catching carp and small chub before switching to fish the inside and landing several larger carp to double figures to weigh in a total of 70lb 6oz. In second position was Ian Chaplin with 64lb of carp and chub caught on the pole with corn at 8 metres, in third position was Dick Shillitto with 62lb 12oz also catching carp and chub on the pole and method feeder.Section winners were Steve Johnson with 56lb 8oz, Dave Wightman with 57lb and Brian Bowles with 39lb 8oz.  

 

6th July 14 Blue Pool

Remenham visited Blue Pool part of the Staceys complex near Tadley to fish the 4th leg of the Summer Series. Ian Chaplin fished the method feeder with red maggot across to the island landing 2 carp and 1 bream then adding a further bream plus roach and rudd on the pole to weigh in a winning total of 21lb. In second place was Pete Bowles fishing the pole with meat and weighing in 1 carp and several bream for 15lb 6oz and in third place was Mark Bowerman with 11lb 10oz consisting of 3 carp caught on the pole.

 

13th July Cheriton Farm

Cheriton Farm at Farley Hill was the venue for the fifth leg of the Remenham Summer Series on Sunday. After losing  most of his pole in the lake last week and having to return the following day with a boat to retrieve it Mark Bowerman put it to good use as he fished pellet shallow at 14 metres catching small carp all day to weigh in a winning total of 111lb 8oz. Not too far behind was Geoff Edwards continuing his fine form after not fishing last weekends match, with 109lb 8oz consisting of 80lb of small carp and nearly 30lb of skimmers all  caught on the pole at 6 metres and down the edge against the reeds with red maggot and meat. In third place was Steve Johnson with 99lb of carp caught on meat on the inside on the pole. Section winners were, Pete Bowles with 94lb 8oz , Paul Howard with 79lb 8oz and Graham Dodd with 65lb 8oz.

 

20th July Billhook 16 -29

Billhook Lake near Odiham was the venue for the 6th leg of the Remenham Summer Series. Once again it was the inform Geoff Edwards who set the pace as he caught carp on the pole with pellet alternating between 5, 11 and 16 metres to weigh in a winning total of 103lb 14oz. Less than 2lb behind in a close second was Steve Johnson who fished the pole at 11 metres shallow with meat catching carp for a total of 102lb 8oz  ,and in third place was Dave Wightman with 74lb of carp caught on the inside with red maggot and groundbait. Section winners were Trevor Pearce with 64lb 12oz and Pete Bowles with 57lb12oz.

 

27th July Milton Pools Cambells

The seventh leg of the Remenham Summer Series took place on Sunday at Milton Pools with Cambells Lake being fished. Paul Howard fished the pole with paste at 5 metres and on the inside catching carp throughout the match weighing in a total of 152lb 2oz to take maximum points on the day. This denied Geoff Edwards his second victory in two weeks as he had to settle for second place with 133lb 10oz consisting of carp caught on the pole with red maggot mainly on the inside. In third place was Pete Bowles with 122lb 4oz of carp caught with on the pole with meat. Section winners were Ian Chaplin with 78lb 8oz and Simon Bererens with 98lb.

 

3rd August Wood Lane

Wood Lane Fishery near Iver was the venue for the 8th leg of Remenham's Summer Series on Sunday where Geoff Edwards continued his domination of the series. Geoff opted to fish the slow sinking feeder casting out towards the middle of the lake and catching mainly small carp right from the start until the final whistle to weigh in an impressive winning total of 221lb, the largest weight recorded from this venue in a Remenham match and the largest in any Remenham match for several seasons. In second place was Simon Bererens who after a slow start switched to fishing on the inside on the pole and landing some larger carp up to double figures to finish with 191lb 2oz and in third place was Mark Bowerman with 174lb of carp caught on the pellet waggler.

 

10th August Billhook 1-15

Sunday saw the ninth leg of The Remenham Summer Series held at Billhook lake near Odiham.Strong winds and torrential rain for long periods of the match made fishing difficult for most but this didn't stop Geoff Edwards as his domination of the series continued.Geoff fished the pole at 4 metres and then close in down the edge with pellet and corn to land skimmers and carp up to double figures for a winning total of 205lb 2oz.This was well clear of second placed Ian Chaplin who fished similar tactics also landing carp and skimmers weighing in 111lb 10oz and close behind in third place was Paul Howard with 106lb 8oz of carp caught on the pole with paste.Edwards has now finished in the top two in each of the eight matches he has fished in and with his closest rival Pete Bowles not fishing this match stretches his lead in the series to 157 points from Chaplin with 141 Dick Shillitto 137  Bowles 132 and Trevor Pearce 118 making up the top five.

 

 

 

 

 

17th August Greenfields

Remenham's anglers visited Greenfields Fishery at Barkham on Sunday to fish the tenth leg in the Summer Series.Dick Shillitto finished well ahead of the rest of the field as he caught carp on the pole at 6 metres with paste to weigh in a winning total of 112lb 8oz. In second place was Brian Bowles with 50lb 4oz of carp caught on the inside on the pole with red maggot and in third place was Dave Wightman with 37lb 8oz of carp caught on the pole at 8 metres and on the inside with corn and red maggot. Geoff Edwards retains his lead in the series with 173 points with Ian Chaplin 158 ,Shillitto 157, Pete Bowles 132, and Trevor Pearce 118, making up the top five in the series

 

 

24th August Milton Pools Cambells

Geoff Edwards returned to winning ways this week as he won the latest round of the Remenham Summer Series held on Campbells Lake at Milton Pools. Geoff caught carp steadily throughout the day on the pole at both 3 and 8 metres with pellet and red maggot to weigh in 190lb 2oz. In second place was Dick Shillitto with 147lb 8oz of carp caught on the pole at 12.5 metres and at 5 metres with pellet and in third position was Pete Bowles who fished the pole at 6 metres with meat to weigh in 130lb 4oz of carp. With 2 legs remaining in the series Edwards retains his lead with 193 points from Shillitto with 165 Ian Chaplin 158 Pete Bowles 150 and Roger Howard 142 making up the top 5.

 

 

31st August Whitehouse

Last Sunday saw penultimate match in The Remenham Summer series which took place at Whitehouse Lake near Tadley. Dave Wightman drew on the island and fished the pole at 10 metres with maggot and corn landing skimmers and tench before switching to the inside and catching several carp to weigh in a winning total of 46lb 4oz. Close behind in second place was Ian Chaplin with 45lb 2oz consisting of carp, skimmers,tench and small barbel caught on the pole at 14 metres across to the back of the island with pellet. In third place was Pete Bowles with 27lb 10oz of skimmers, tench, carp and barbel caught on the pole with meat and maggot. With only one round remaining and with the best eleven results from thirteen for each angler counting Geoff Edwards has an unassailable lead in the series with 193 points with Pete Bowles 168, Chaplin 165, Dick Shillitto 160 and Trevor Pearce 150 jostling for minor placings.

 

7th September Bowsaw 16-29

Despite already winning the Remenham Summer series there was no let up from Geoff Edwards as he won the last match in the series held at Bowsaw Lake near Odiham with 121lb 14oz of carp up to double figures caught on the pole at 7 metres with pellet. In second place was Paul Howard who fished the pole at 7 metres and on the inside catching carp and weighing in 112lb 4oz and in third place was Ian Chaplin with 78lb of carp caught on the pole with pellet. Edwards finished the series with 213 points, Chaplin's third place ensured second place in the series with 183 points with Dick Shillito third with 176 points, Pete Bowles 168 and Roger Howard 153 points making up the top five places.

 

14th September Whitehouse

The following week saw the first match in the Chairman's Trophy held at Whitehouse Lake near Tadley. Winner on the day was Dick Shillito with 30lbs consisting of carp, tench, skimmers and small barbel all caught on the pole with pellet. In second place was Steve Johnson with 25lb 2oz of carp, skimmers and tench also caught on the pole with pellet and in third was Roger Howard with 18lb 8oz of carp and skimmers caught on pole with corn.

 

21st  September Wood Lane

Remenham fished the second match in the Chairman's Trophy at Wood Lane fishery near Iver with Dick Shillito taking top spot for the second week running.Dick fished the slow sinking feeder with pellet to catch carp steadily through the match  to weigh in 175lb 4oz. In second place was Ian Chaplin with 85lb 12oz of carp all caught on the pellet waggler and in third was Brian Bowles with 19lb 8oz of carp caught on the pole with paste.

 

28th  September  Milton Pools Cambells

The following week Remenham travelled to Milton Pools to fish the third leg on Cambells Lake and with the warm conditions continuing all the anglers found the fish in a feeding mood. Dave Wightman fished the pole along the near bank and caught mainly carp on corn to weigh in a winning total of 205lb 4oz. In second place was Steve Johnson who fished the pole with meat landing carp weighing 185lb 12oz just edging Dick Shillito into third with180lb 8oz also with carp caught on the pole with meat and pellet.

 

5th October Oakfield Swallow Lake

Remenham travelled to Oakfield Fishery at Kingswood near Aylesbury on Sunday to fish Swallow Lake in the fourth round of the Chairman's Trophy. With a sharp overnight frost it was a slow start to the match with all the competitors struggling  for bites early on. As the match progressed Trevor Pearce landed 7 carp on the pole at 5 metres with red maggot to weigh in a winning total of 34lb 12oz. In second place was Ian Chaplin who fished the pole at 11 metres landing a few small carp before switching to 6 metres with banded pellet and adding several more for a total of 31lb 10oz and in third position was Dick Shilitto with 25lb 14 oz of carp caught on the pole down the edge with meat.

 

12th October Whitehouse

Whitehouse Lake near Tadley was the venue for the fifth leg of the Remenham Chairman's Trophy on Sunday. Trevor Pearce fished the pole at 12 metres with red maggot landing carp and small barbel for a total of 24lb 9oz to win his second match in a row. In second place was Dave Wightman with a mix of carp, tench, roach, skimmers and barbel all caught on the pole with red maggot and pellet weighing a total of 16lb and in third position was Roger Howard with 10lb 8oz consisting of 2 carp and small roach.

 

19th October Billhook 1-15

Dick Shillitto fished the pole at 12 metres with pellet landing carp and chub before switching to his inside line with corn to add more carp to weigh in a winning total of 75lb 4oz. Steve Johnson fished similar tactics and weighed in 58lb 14oz of carp and small chub to finnish in second place and in third place was Roger Howard with 36lb 4oz of feeder caught carp.

 

26th October Milton Pools Cambells

Ade Bowles won this match fishing the pole close in with corn weighing in 93lb 2oz of mainly carp ahead of Geoff Edwards in second with 68lb 10oz and third was Dick Shillitto with 46lb 3oz.

 

2nd November Cheriton Farm

Steve Johnson won the eighth leg of the Chairman's Trophy at Cheriton catching small carp on the long pole shallow with pellet then switching to the pole on the inside with meat for the last hour and a half and landing some larger carp to weigh in a total of 115lb 8oz. Not too far behind in second place was Dick Shillitto with 99lb 2oz consisting of carp caught on the pole with pellet and in third was Roger Howard with 60lb 2oz of carp caught close in to the nearside bank with pellet and corn.

 

9th November Wood Lane

This was the ninth leg of the Chairman's Trophy and Steve Johnson made it 2 wins in a row as he dominated this match from the off catching small carp on the pellet waggler and then switching to the bomb with pellet and adding more carp to finish with 73lb 8oz. In second place was Ian Chaplin fishing the pellet waggler and method feeder with corn and pellet weighing in 35lb 6oz of carp and in third place was Dick Sillitto with 2 small carp and silverfish for 11lb 6oz.

 

16th November Bowsaw 1-15

Ade Bowles drew peg 1 in this match and fished the method feeder with 8mm pellet landing carp up to double figures to weigh in a match winning 133lb 8oz. in second place was Steve Johnson with 72lb consisting of carp caught on the pole with meat and pellet and in third place was Dick Shillitto with 67lb 8oz of carp caught mainly on the method feeder with pellet.

 

23rd November Milton Pools Lens

Winner on Lens Lake was Dave Wightman with 33lb of carp and skimmers with Roger Howard finishing in second place with 23lb 10oz just pipping Trevor Pearce with 23lb into third.

 

30th November Rolf's Lake

The penultimate round of the Chairman's Trophy took place on Sunday at Rolf's Lake near Wheatley. Steve Johnson landed 2 large carp on the pole with corn totalling 27lb along with 16lb of roach and skimmers with caster for a match winning total of 43lb 10oz. This was well clear of second placed Roger Howard with 12lb 4oz consisting of 1 carp plus roach and skimmers all caught on the pole with red maggot and in third place was Dick Shillitto also with 1 carp for 7lb 14oz. With just one round remaining in the series Shillitto holds a narrow lead with 204 points ahead of Johnson with 201 with Roger Howard third with 158 and Ian Chaplin fourth with 153.

 

7th December Milton Pools Cambells

The last match in the Remenham Chairman's Series was fished at Milton Pools on Sunday with Cambells Lake being fished. With the top two very close on points it was vital for Steve Johnson to finish ahead of Dick Shilltto in this match which he did by finishing in second place with 55lb 8oz of carp, but with Shillitto finishing only one place behind in third with 46lb 8oz this was not enough to overhall Shillitto's points tally and Shillitto was crowned as Champion. Winner on the day was Dave Wightman with 60lb 2oz of carp caught on the pole with corn and pellet.

 

14th December Frobury Farm Match Lake 2

The last two weeks have seen the first and second matches in the Remenham Winter Series. First up it was Frobury Farm at Kingsclere on match lake 2 and with a sharp overnight frost causing a thin layer of ice on the lake it proved to be a tough day. Pete Bowles began the match well catching several small carp on the pole next to the footbridge with bread but as the day progressed Steve Johnson caught carp and small rudd with maggot on the pole to make the result a close call. In fact both Bowles and Johnson weighed in 17lb 13oz at the end so tying for first place with Ian Chaplin third with 3lb 8oz.

 

21st   December Bowsaw 1-15

The following week the venue was Bowsaw Lake at Odiham where results proved to be better than the previous week. Winner on the day was Ade Bowles who fished the method feeder with pellet and corn across to the island and caught carp steadily all day to weigh in 115lb10oz. This was well clear of Dave Wightman in second place with 61lb 8oz of carp all caught on the pole at 16 metres with pellet and in third place was Brian Bowles with 41lb 4oz of carp caught on the method feeder with corn.

 

28th  December Whitehouse

This match proved to be a struggle for the competitors after a major fish kill on the lake and subsequent re-stocking combined with a hard over night frost. Steve Johnson got his teeth into some small roach on the pole with maggot to win a low weight affair with 2lb 12oz. In second place was Ian Chaplin with     2lb 6oz consisting of a small carp and some roach and in thid was Pete Bowles with 2lb 4oz of roach.

 

4th January 2015 Holme Grange

This was the third match in the winter series and was a silver fish only match.

Winner on the day was Phil Drew who fished the pole to hand at 5 metres feeding caster with maggot on the hook weighing in an all roach net of 30lb. In second place was Mark Bowerman fishing similar tactics but at 10 metres weighing in 28lb 12oz of roach and in third was Trevor Pearce with 23lb 8oz. Section winners were Malcolm Pearce 18lb 8oz and Pete Bowles 23lb

 

11th January Wood Lane Island Lake

Remenham's Winter Series continued with a very close fourth leg of at Wood Lane Fishery near Iver with Island Lake being fished. Ade Bowles started the match well catching several small carp tight to the Island on the pole with corn and added a few more later into the day whilst on the opposite bank Dick Shillitto Landed 6 larger carp also on the pole with corn which saw both anglers weigh in 26lb 6oz at the end to share the top spot. Mark Bowerman finished in third place with 24lb 12oz of carp and roach. Section winners were Steve Johnson with 20lb 2oz and Pete Bowles with 24lb.

 

18th January Bowsaw 1-15

The fifth was much less of a close affair at Bowsaw Lake near Odiham as Pete Bowles totally dominated the match from peg one with an all carp catch of 154lb 8oz all caught on the method feeder with pellet cast tight to the island. This was well clear of Roger Howard in second with 42lb 6oz of carp and chub all caught on the method feeder with pellet and corn and in third was Steve Johnson with 36lb of carp and chub once again caught on the method feeder.

 

25th January Holme Grange

Remenham travelled to Holme Grange Fishery on Sunday to fish the sixth leg of the Winter Series. Most of the anglers aimed to target the vast stocks of roach in the lake on the pole close in but these failed to feed in any numbers so it was carp that made up most of the the weights. Dave Wightman started the match on the method feeder and landed two carp on pellet before switching to the pole and found very few roach feeding but instead landed a further four carp on the pole with maggot to weigh in a total of 31lb 12oz to win the match. In second place was Geoff Edwards with 25lb 11oz consisting of 7lb of roach plus five carp caught on the pole with maggot and in third place was Ian Chaplin with three carp landed on the method feeder with corn for 11lb 12oz.

 

1st February Milton Pools Cambells

The continuing cold weather and strong northerly winds made Remenham's trip to Milton Pools to fish Cambells Lake ,in the seventh leg of the winter series, a difficult match with nearly half of the anglers failing to catch at all. Dick Shillito made the most of another favourable draw and fished the pole at 14 metres across to the remains of the lily pads and caught several small carp on the pellet to weigh in 24lb 9oz to secure first place. In second place was Mark Bowerman who also fished the pole at 14 metres but with corn landing 9 small carp for a total of 15lb 10oz.This was just ahead of Pete Bowles in third place with 15lb consisting of 5 carp caught on the pole close in with maggot. Section winners were Roger Howard with 3lb 8oz and Ade Bowles with 11lb 4oz.

 

8th February  Milton Pools Lens

Milton Pools was the venue once again for the eighth leg of the Remenham Winter Series but with Lens Lake being fished this time. Despite most of the anglers having to clear ice from their swims before the start of the match most had plenty of bites throughout the day and weights were reasonable considering the conditions. Dick Shilitto fished the pole at 14 metres with pellet and caught mainly carp along with skimmers and roach to weigh in a winning total of 46lb 11oz this was well clear of second placed Pete Bowles with an all roach net of 15lb 4oz caught on the pole with maggot. And in third place was Ian Chaplin with 14lb 15oz consisting of carp skimmers and roach caught on the pole with maggot and corn.

 

15th February Cheriton Farm

The following week Cheriton Farm near Farley Hill was the venue for the ninth leg of the series. Winner on the day was Ian Chaplin who found the small carp feeding from the off and caught steadily through the match on the pole at 14.5 metres with maggot to weigh in 65lb 8oz. In second place was Steve Johnson with 50lb 10oz of carp all caught the pole at 14 metres with pellet and in third place was Pete Bowles with 45lb of carp also on the pole with maggot and corn.

 

22nd February Frobury Farm Match Lake 2

Steve Johnson won the tenth leg of the winter series at Frobury by a considerable margin as he caught small carp on the pole tight accross to the rushes on the adjacent bank with maggot and pellet weighing in a total of 78lb 8oz. In second place was Pete Bowles who fished the pole at 14 metre s with maggot landing carp for 29lb 14oz just ahead of Dick Shillito in third with 28lb 12oz of carp also caught on the pole with maggot.

 

1st March Billhook 1-15

The last two weeks have seen the eleventh and twelfth legs of the Remenham Winter Series.First up it was Billhook Lake near Odiham where Pete Bowles was victorious fishing the banjo pellet feeder with pellet landing carp up to 8lb for a total of 72lb 10oz. In second place was Paul Howard who fished the method feeder alternating between pellet and corn on the hook catching carp to weigh in 50lb 3oz and in third place was Ian Chaplin with 44lb of carp caught on the pole with corn.

 

8th March Milton Pools Cambells

Cambell's Lake at Milton Pools was the venue for the twelfth leg of the series the following week which saw club Chairman Roger Howard secure his first win of the season with a narrow victory over Steve Johnson in the next peg.Roger fished the pole at 13 metres landing a few small carp before switching to the nearside bank and fishing to a tree stump where he caught carp consistently for the second half of the match weighing in 51lb 2oz. Second placed Johnson weighed in 50lb 2oz of carp caught on the pole with corn and pellet and in third place was Mark Bowerman with 46lb 3oz of carp caught on the pole with meat and corn. With Just two rounds remaining in the series Pete Bowles leads the way with 218 points with Dick Shilitto in second with 180 Steve Johnson in third with 176 Ian Chaplin fourth with 174 and Dave Wightman with 133 making up the top 5 but with each angler having to still drop thier two worst results.

 

 

15th March Milton Pools Lens

The penultimate leg of the Remenham Winter Series took place on Sunday at Milton Pools with Lens Lake being fished.Steve Johnson scored maximum points with a winning weight of 33lb 6oz which included carp, skimmers, roach and a bream of 7lb all caught on the pole at 14 metres with soft pellet. In second place was Dick Shilitto with 22lb 6oz of carp and skimmers also caught on the pole with pellet and in third place was Brian Bowles with 15lb 8oz of mainly carp landed on the pole with corn.

With just one round remaining Pete Bowles leads the points with 234 with Shilitto second with 199 Johnson third on 196 Ian Chaplin in fourth with 191 and Roger Howard making up the top five with 146 points.

 

 

22nd March Frobury Farm Match Lake 2

The final match of Remenham's season took place on Sunday at Frobury Farm near Kingsclere with the last leg of the Winter Series being fished. Steve Jonhson once again took maximum points as he fished the pole with pellet catching small carp and rudd for a total of 24lb. In second place was Roger Howard with 14lb 2oz of carp also caught on the pole with maggot and in third was Pete Bowles with 4 small carp for 10lb 6oz caught on the pole with maggot and corn.  With each angler counting their best twelve result from fourteen matches Bowles retained his lead in the series to win with 219 points with Johnson in second with 216 points and Dick Shilitto in third with 203 points.
