14th June 2015 Cheriton Farm

Remenham's new season started with the first match in the Summer Series held at Cheriton Farm at Farley Hill. Steve Johnson fished the pole at 13 metres with pellet up in the water landing carp for a total of 114lb 2oz and taking top spot on the day. In second place was Mark Bowerman who fished similar tactics weighing in 105lb 14oz of carp and in third was Pete Bowles with 98lb 4oz of carp.

 

21nd June 2015 Frobury Farm

The following week saw the second match in the series at Frobury Farm near Kingsclere.Winner on this occasion was Pete Bowles who fished the pole at 10 metres with pellet before switching to the inside with meat catching numerous small carp to weigh in 76lb 14oz.In second place was Trevor Pearce who caught the majority of his 53lb 9oz of carp with pellet on the inside bank just one ounce ahead of  new member Mark Garnet in third place with 53lb 8oz of carp caught on the pole with pellet. Section winners were Mark Bowerman with 49lb 8oz and Steve Johnson with 46lb 10oz.

 

28th June Billhook 1-15

Pete Bowles recorded his second win in a row in the latest leg of Remenham's Summer series held at Billhook Lake near Odiham. Pete alternated between the method feeder casting to the far bank with pellet and fishing the pole on the inside with maggot landing carp and skimmers on both weighing in a total of 111lb. Second place was also the same as the previous week as Trevor Pearce fished the pole close in to the near bank catching carp and skimmers for 80lb 2oz and in third place was Ade Bowles with 75lb 10oz of carp caught on the method feeder with pellet.

 

5th  July Bowsaw 1-15

The fourth leg of The Remennham Summer Series took place this week with Bowsaw Lake near Odiham being the venue. Geoff Edwards drew peg 1 on the lake and fished the method feeder with a short chuck accross to the island with corn and caught carp from the off weighing in an impressive 233lb 10oz to secure first place.In second position was Mark Bowerman with 123lb 6oz of carp mostly caught on the inside on the pole with maggot over meat  and in third place was Ade Bowles with 112lb 12oz of carp caught on the method feeder with pellet. Section winners were Paul Howard with 106lb and Ian Chaplin with 106lb 12oz.

 

12th July Wood Lane match lake

The fifth leg of the Remenham Summer Series took place on Sunday at Wood Lane Fishery near Iver with the match lake being fished. Geoff Edwards once again dominated this match fishing a slow sinking feeder with groundbait and maggot landing carp and skimmers throughout the match to weigh in 275lb 8oz. This was well ahead of the rest of the field which was led by Dick Shillitto who fished the pellet waggler and weighed in 149lb 4oz of carp for second position and in third place was Paul Howard with 132lb 14 oz of carp also caught on the pellet waggler.

 

19th July Milton Pools Campbells

Remenham visited Milton Pools to fish the sixth leg of the Summer Series with Campbells Lake being fished and for the third week running a weight of over 200lb was recorded by the winner. This time it was Steve Johnson who caught carp at 5 metres on the pole with meat before switching to the inside and fishing maggot over groundbait and landing more carp up to double figures to weigh in 231lb 14oz for a comfortable victory.In second place was Pete Bowles with 148lb 12oz of carp mainly caught on the pole at 6 metres with meat and in third place was Trevor Pearce with 118lb of carp caught on the pole with meat at 5 metres and down the edge.

 

26th July Billhook 1-15

The following week Billhook Lake near Odiham was the venue for the seveth leg of the series. Geoff Edwards returned to winning ways in this match as he fished the pole with pellet at 6 metres and corn down the edge catching carp to weigh in a total of 97lb. In second place was Pete Bowles with 89lb 4oz of carp landed on the method feeder and also on the pole at 4 metres with meat and on the inside with maggot over groundbait and in third was Steve Johnson with 80lb 8oz of carp.

 

2nd August Bowsaw 16-29

Dick Shillitto who came out on top in this match as he drew peg 29 and fished the pole with pellet accross to the end of the island landing carp up to double figures weighing in 165lb 12oz. For the third week in a row Pete Bowles finished in second place, Pete started on the method feeder before switching to the pole at 6 metres with meat and down the edge with maggot and groundbait landing carp for a total of 129lb. In third place was Mark Garnett with 72lb of carp caught on the pole with pellett and maggot.

 

9th August Oakfield Woodpecker Lake

Pete Bowles went one better than his previous three second positions as he won this match with 123lb 12oz of carp and skimmers mainly caught on the pole at 5 metres and on the inside with maggot and groundbait. Second position went to Ade Bowles fishing similar tactics also landing carp and skimmers weighing in 92lb 8oz and third place was shared between Trevor Pearce and Steve Johnson who both recordrd 80lb 6oz of carp and skimmers.

 

16th August Wood Lane match lake

Wood Lane Fishery near Iver was the venue for the tenth leg of The Remenham Summer Series on Sunday. Steve Johnson was the winner on this occasion on what proved to be a low weight affair compared to previous trips to the venue as the resident carp and skimmers were not in the feeding mood. Johnson weighed in 69lb 8oz of mainly carp predominantly caught on the straight lead with pellet, In second place was Pete Bowles with 63lb 14 oz of carp and skimmers landed on the pole at 13 metres with pellet and in third place was Dick Shillitto with 55lb 6oz of carp caught on the floating feeder.

 

23rd August Milton Pools Campbells

Steve Johnson won his second consecutive match as he won the eleventh leg of the Remenham Summer Series held at Milton Pools on Campbell's Lake. Johnson Weighed in a mainly carp net of 161lb 10oz caught on the pole with groundbait and red maggot fished on the inside. Second placed Paul Howard used similar tactics on the far side of the lake weighing in 126lb 3ozs of mainly carp and in third place was Trevor Pearce with 116lb 4oz of carp caught on the pole with meat and pellet.

 

30th August Bowsaw 1-15

Bowsaw Lake near Odiham was the venue for the twelfth and penultimate leg of the series. Ade Bowles fished the pole on the nearside ledge with groundbait and dead red maggot landing carp steadily throughout the match weighing in a winning total of 152lb 2oz. In second place was Paul Howard with 142lb of carp landed mainly on the method feeder with corn and pellet and in third place was Dick Shillitto with 139lb 4oz of carp caught on the pole with red maggot and pellet.

 

6th September Billhook 1-15

Billhook Lake near Odiham provided the venue for the final leg of the Remenham Summer Series. A drop in overnight temperature had put the fish off the feed so the match got off to a slow start and the final weights were lower than previous matches. Winner on the day was Ade Bowles winning his second consecutive match with 63lb 8oz of carp and skimmers caught on the method feeder and also on the pole on the inside with red maggot. In second place was Trevor Pearce with an all carp net of 58lb all caught on the pole at 8 metres with pellet and in third place was Ian Chaplin with 56lb 10oz of carp caught on the method feeder with pellet and on the pole on the inside with corn. The series was won by Pete Bowles with 205 points with Dick Shillitto in second with 184 points and in third was Steve Johnson with 177.

 

13th September Frobury Farm

Pete Bowles won this match the first in the Chairman's Series. Pete landed small carp throughout the day on the pole at 5 metres with meat to weigh in 97lb 2oz. In second place was Dick Shillitto with 62lb 8oz of small carp caught mainly on the inside with maggot over groundbait and in third place was Paul Howard with 51lb 12oz of carp.

 

20th September Cheriton Farm

The last two Sundays have seen the second and third legs of Remenham's Chairman's Trophy being fished. First it was Cheriton Farm at Farley Hill where Dick Shillitto took maximum points with 171lb of carp caught on the pole with pellet at 5 metres and on the inside whilst Steve Johnson used similar tactics to weigh in 129lb 8oz of carp to secure second position and in third place was Neil Reed with 73lb 2oz.

 

27th September Bowsaw 16-29

The following week it was Bowsaw lake near Odiham that provided the venue and once again it was Dick Shillitto who came out on top with 94lb 14oz of carp caught mainly on the pole at 5 metres with pellet and red maggot. In second place was Ian Chaplin with 85lb 14oz of carp up to double figures landed on the pole alternating between 6 metres and down the edge with corn and in third place was Ade Bowles with 71lb 4oz caught mainly on the inside with corn.

 

4th October Milton Pools Campbells

Steve Johnson took the honours in the fourth leg of the Remenham Chairman's series held at Milton Pools on Sunday with Cambells lake being fished. Johnson started on the long pole fishing shallow taking small carp on pellet before switching to the inside edge with maggot and groundbait adding more larger carp for a total weight of 150lb 14oz. In second position was Dick Shillitto with 120lb 6oz of carp caught at 6 metres and on the inside with pellet and in third place was Trevor Pearce with 111lb 10oz of carp landed at 5 metres and down the edge with meat.

 

11th October Billhook 1-15

Winner of the fifth leg of the series was once again Steve Johnson with 87lb 8oz of carp and skimmers caught mainly on the inside with maggot over groundbait with Dick Shillito second with 53lb 14oz of carp caught on the pole at 5 metres with meat and in third place was Paul Howard with 42lb 2oz of carp .

 

18th October New Farm (match)

The sixth leg of Remenham's Chairman's Series was held at New Farm near Maidenhead and the winner on this occasion was Ian Chaplin who fished the pole across to the central island with pellet and red maggot landing a mixture of carp, tench, chub, roach and small barbel weighing in a total of 81lb 2oz. In second place was Dick Shillitto with 45lb 12oz which included carp, tench and a 5 pound barbel all caught on the pole at 11 metres with maggot and pellet and in third place was Roger howard with a mixed catch of  28lb caught on the pole with worm.

 

25th October Wood Island lake

Wood Lane near Iver provided the venue for the seventh with the Island Lake being fished. With a sharp drop in temperature overnight the resident carp were reluctant to feed and bites were of a premium throughout the match. One angler who did manage to tempt the carp was Ade Bowles who landed several on the pole fishing pellet tight across to the island and weighing in a winning total of 42lb. In second position was Mark Garnett who targeted roach on the pole at 7 metres with caster catching steadily through the day and weighing in 24lb 8oz. In third place was Brian Bowles with 2 carp for 11lb caught on the method feeder with pellet.

 

1st November Bowsaw 1-15

Bowsaw Lake near Odiham was the venuue for the latest leg in Remenham's Chairman's Trophy the eighth in the series. Winner on this occasion was Ian Chaplin who fished the method feeder with pellet across to the island before switching to the pole on the inside with corn landing carp on both methods and weighing in 99lb 6oz. In second position from the next peg was Dick Shillitto with 68lb 4oz of carp caught on the method feeder and on the pole at 7 metres with maggot and pellet and in third place was Brian Bowles with 49lb 14oz of carp landed on the method feeder.

 

8th November Holme Grange

The ninth leg of Remenham's Chairman's Trophy was held at Holme Grange fishery near Wokingham. Paul Howard fished the method feeder catching carp before switching to the pole at 10 metres and adding several more to weigh in a winning total of 68lb 6oz. In second position was Ade Bowles with 55lb 12oz of carp caught on the method feeder and pole and in third place was Brian Bowles with 49lb 2oz of carp.

 

15th November Milton Pools Len's Lake

The following week Len's Lake at Milton Pools was the venue for the tenth leg of the series. Winner on this occasion was Ian Chaplin who fished the method feeder across to the central lilly pads with red maggot landing several small carp and skimmers weighing in 27lb 4oz. Two anglers shared second position as both Paul Howard and Neil Reed both registered 24lb 8oz at the weigh in both fishing the pole at various lengths and landing small carp as well as tench and skimmers.

 

22nd November Wood lane (Island Lake)

Wood Lane Fishery near Iver provided the venue for the eleventh leg of Remenham's Chairman's Trophy. A hard overnight frost put most of the fish off the feed and all the anglers struggled for bites thus producing  very low weights at the weigh in. Mark Bowerman landed an early carp on the straight lead and added a few small roach and skimmers to weigh in 7lb 7oz to take first place. A close second was Roger Howard also with 1 carp landed on the pole with pellet plus roach and skimmers for 7lb 4oz and in thrd place was Dick Shillitto with 6lb 4oz consisting of 1 carp and roach and skimmers.

 

29th November New Farm (match)

The following week the twelfth leg was held at New Farm Fishery near Maidenhead with very windy conditions making it another difficult day. Graham Dodd fished the pole at 14 metres across to the island with red maggot landing 8 carp and a variety of smaller fish including perch,tench,roach,rudd, barbel and chub to weigh in a winning total of 43lb, In second position was Dick Shillitto fishing similar tactics and landing carp and small fish for 21lb 10oz and in third place was Malcolm Pearce with 19 lb 8 oz of carp and small fish.

With just one round remaining in the series Shillitto leads the points with 189 followed by Ian Chaplin in second with 172 and Roger Howard in third with 166 points.

 

6th December Milton Pools House Lake

The final leg of The Remenham Chairman's Series was held at Milton Pools on Sunday with House Lake being fished. Despite very windy conditions all the anglers faired well catching roach and skimmers throughout the match. Clear winner on the day was Mark Bowerman who fished the pole with maggot and pellet alternating between 14 metres and 6 metres and weighing in 37lb 2oz of skimmers and roach. In second place was Paul Howard with 27lb of roach and skimmers caught on the pole with pellet at 9 metres and in third place was Graham Dodd with 24lb 8oz also with roach and skimmers. The series was won by Dick Shillitto with 204 points from Ian Chaplin in second position with 188 and in third was Roger Howard with 182.

 

13th December New Farm

The last two weeks have seen the opening two rounds of the Remenham Winter Series, the first being held at New Farm Fisheries near Maidenhead. Malcolm Pearce secured victory on this occasion with 18lb 10oz consisting of 2 carp caught down the middle on the pole with maggot and a selection of smaller fish just edging Dick Shillitto into second place with a similar catch of 18lb 4oz taken on the pole with worm across to the island and in third position was Brian Bowles with 10lb 8oz.

 

20th December Holme Grange

The following week the venue was Holme Grange near Wokingham and with the mild weather continuing the resident carp were  in a feeding mood. Steve Johnson fished both the pellet waggler and the bomb to good effect landing carp throughout the match and weighing in 154lb 8oz ahead of Dick Shillitto in second place with 115lb 14 oz of carp and roach caught at 10 metres on the pole with meat and on the method feeder and in third place was Mark Garnett with 77lb 8oz of carp and roach mainly caught on the bomb with pellet.

 

3rd January Whitehouse

The first match of the new year saw Remenham visit Whitehouse Lake at Tadley to fish the third leg of The Winter Series.Heavy rain and high winds made conditions extremely difficult for most of the anglers with some failing to weigh in. John Hobbs was the comfortable winner on the day as he fished the pole across towards the island and landed carp and bream to weigh in 37lb 8oz. This was well clear of Pete Bowles in second place with 7lb12oz of roach and skimmers taken on the pole with maggot and in third place was Trevor Pearce with 4lb 8oz of roach and skimmers also taken on the pole with maggot.

 

17th January Milton pools House Lake

Last Sunday Milton Pools was the venue for the fourth leg of the series with House Lake being fished. After the recent cold snap and an overnight flurry of snow the larger fish in the lake failed to show so smaller silver fish made up the weights on the day. Ade Bowles led the field with a mixed net of roach, rudd, skimmers and perch all caught on the pole at 10 metres with maggot weighing in 9lb 12oz narrowly edging out Neil Reid in second place with a similar catch taken on the pole with worm and maggot weighing 9lb 8oz and in third place was Steve Johnson with 8lb 8oz of roach and skimmers. Section winners were John Hobbs 4lb 12oz and Malcolm Pearce 7lb.

 

24th January Cheriton Farm

Pete Bowles was the comfortable winner of the latest match in The Remenham Winter Series held at Cheriton Farm near Farley Hill on Sunday. Pete caught small carp from the first whistle until the last on the pole at 14 metres with maggot weighing in 126lb 8oz well clear of second placed Mark Bowerman who fished the poe at 16 metres with maggot weighing in 70lb 2oz of small carp and in third place was Neil Reid with 25lb 10oz of carp caught on the pole at 16 metres with maggot.

 

31st January Milton Pools House Lake    

At Milton it was House Lake that was fished and the lake produced plenty of bites for the anglers taking part. Winner on the day was Ian Chaplin who fished the method feeder with pellet across to the far bank and landed carp up to double figures totaling 56lb and also adding 18lb 8oz of roach and skimmers for a total of 74lb 8oz. In second place was Dick Shillitto with 34lb 4oz of skimmers caught on the pole at 13 metres with pellet and third place was shared by both Pete Bowles and Steve Johnson both weighing in 25lb.

 

7th February Whitehouse

The following week by contrast bites were hard to come by at Whitehouse with all the anglers struggling to catch fish in any numbers. Ian Chaplin won his second match in a row as he landed 2 carp and a bream plus a few small fish on the pole across to the island with maggot weighing in 14lb10oz. In second place was Trevor Pearce with a mixed net of tench bream perch roach and carp caught on the pole with maggot totaling 12lb 8oz just edging out Mark Bowerman into third with a similar net weighing 12lb.

 

14th February Cheriton Farm

Cheriton Farm at Farley Hill was the venue for the ninth leg of the Remenham Winter Series and it was Malcolm Pearce who was victorious on this occasion winning with 46lb of small carp caught on the pole at 16 metres with red maggot. In second place was Mark Garnett with 24lb 12oz of small carp and skimmers and in third was Mark Bowerman with 22lb.

 

21st February Milton Pools Campbells

The following week the Venue was Cambells Lake at Milton Pools for the tenth leg of the series. Geoff Edwards caught carp on the pole with maggot at 12 metres and across to the adjacent bank weighing in a winning total of 107lb 2oz. In second place was Pete Bowles with 68lb 8oz of carp caught on the pole with maggot and in third place was Brian Bowles with 44lb 10oz caught on the pole with corn.

 

28th February Milton Pools House Lake

The final match of the season saw Remenham anglers travel to Milton Pools to fish House Lake in the tenth and final leg in the Winter Series. Winner on the day was Dick Shillito who fished the pole at 13 metres with meat and pellet landing skimmers and roach for a total weight of 38lb 2oz.

In second place was Mark Bowerman with 28lb 4oz consisting of skimmers and roach mainly caught at 14 metres on the pole with pellet and corn and in third place was Malcolm Pearce with 20lb 2oz of skimmers roach and tench caught on the pole with maggot and pellet.

Shillito's win secured him the series with a total of 150 points with Ian Chaplin in second with 138 Steve Johnson in third with 121 and Pete Bowles and Malcolm Pearce both sharing fourth spot with 105 points.
