2016/17 MATCH REPORTS

 

 

12th JUNE BILLHOOK 1-15

Remenham's season kicked off with a trip to Billhook for the opening leg of the Summer Series.Roger Howard scored maximum points on the day as he won this match with 56lb 10oz of carp and skimmers caught mainly close in on the pole with pellet. In a close second place was Pete Bowles with 55lb 10oz of carp and skimmers all caught on meat on the pole at 5 metres and on the inside and in third place was Ade Bowles with 49lb 12oz of carp caught on the method feeder with pellet.

 

19th JUNE CHERITON FARM

The following week Cheriton Farm at Farley Hill was the venue for the second leg of the series and it was Graham Dodd who took top spot despite drawing in the unfancied end of the lake. After a blank first hour and a half Dodd changed to the long pole fishing against the small island and landed good sized carp steadily on maggots and pellet for the remainder of the match to weigh in a total of 128lb 6oz. In Second place was Dick Shillitto with 106lb 6oz of small carp caught on the pole at 13 metres with pellet and in third place was Pete Bowles with 100lb of carp caught on the pole at 5 metres and in the edge with meat. Section winners were Mark Bowerman with 99lb 6oz and Paul Howard with 76lb 12oz.

 

26th JUNE BOWSAW 16-29

Pete Bowles secured victory the third leg of Remenham's Summer Series held at Bowsaw Lake near Odiham with 103lb of carp some landed on the method feeder with meat but most on the pole at 6 metres also with meat. In second place was Ian Chaplin with 79lb 6oz of carp caught mainly on the method feeder with pellet and in third place was Mark Bowerman with 69lb 6oz of carp caught on the pole at 10 metres with pellet.

 

3rd JULY WOOD LANE (MATCH)

The following week Wood Lane Fishery was the venue for the fourth leg of the series and with the resident carp not feeding in any numbers it was silver fish that made up most of the top weights. Pete Bowles was once again victorious with 36lb 12oz consisting of 1 small carp along with skimmers, roach and perch caught short on the pole with red maggot and worm.  In second position was Graham Dodd with a similar net of small carp, skimmers and roach caught on the pole with maggot and caster weighing 32lb and in third place was Mark Bowerman whose 6 pellet waggler caught carp weighed 25lb 8oz.

 

10th JULY MILTON POOLS (CAMBELLS)

The Remenham medel winners final was held on Campbell's Lake at Milton Pools with 9 qualifiers from last season taking part. Pete Bowles carried on his fine form from the previous weeks in the league matches as he took top honours on the day with an impressive 170lb 10oz consisting of mainly carp caught short on the pole on meat and down the edge. In a second  was Geoff Edwards with 164lb 8oz of carp landed on the pole shallow with caster and on the inside with pellet a in third place was Steve Johnson with 146lb of carp caught on the pole short with meat.

 

17th JULY NEW FARM (MATCH)

The following week it was back to the Summer Series with a trip to New Farm near Maidenhead for the fifth leg of the series. Winner on this occasion was Paul Howard whose mixed net of small carp, skimmers, small barbel. tench and roach caught on the pole across to the island with worm and down the edge with meat totaled 61lb 4oz edging Steve Johnson into second place with a similar catch of 52lb 1oz caught on the pole with pellet across and meat on the inside and in third place was Trevor Pearce with a mixed catch of 48lb caught on the pole at 11 metres with red maggot.

 

31st JULY FROBURY FARM (MATCH LAKE 2)

The sixth round of the Remenham Summer Series held at Frobury farm at Kingsclere proved to be a close affair with only a single pound separating the top 3 anglers. Top weight on the day went to Paul Howard winning his second match in a row and rapidly stepping out from his fathers shadow weighing in 64lb 14oz consisting of small carp caught on the pole close in down the edge with meat. Trevor Pearce was close behind in second with a similar net weighing in 64lb caught on the pole with maggot and in third place was Graham Dodd with 63lb 14oz of small carp caught on the pole across to the far reeds with pellet and maggot. Section winners were Malcolm Pearce 39lb 4oz ,Steve Johnson 63lb and Dick Shillitto with 46lb 6oz.

 

7th AUGUST NEW BARLOWS

New Barlow Lake at Tadley was the venue for the seventh leg of the Remenham Sumner Series. Graham Dodd fished the pole across to the island with worm and meat landing a selection of carp, skimmers, tench and barbel for a winning total of 55lb 1oz. In second place was Paul Howard whose similar net weighed 51lb 3oz caught on the method feeder with pellet and on the pole at 5 metres with meat and in third place was Trevor Pearce with 44lb 8oz also consisting of carp skimmers barbel and tench all caught on the pole with worm. Section winners were Ian Chaplin with 26lb 12oz and Mark Garnet with 36lb 14oz.

 

14th AUGUST CHERITON FARM

The following week it was Cheriton Farm at Farley Hill that was the venue for the eighth leg of the series. Once again it was Graham Dodd who took maximum points with a winning total of 153lb 4oz consisting of carp landed on the pole across to the small island and also on the inside with red maggot and meat. In second place was Steve Johnson with 133lb 8oz of carp caught on the pole at 8 metres with pellet and on the inside with meat and in third place was Pete Bowles with 120lb 12oz of carp caught at 5 metres on the pole and down the edge with meat. Section winners were Dick Shillitto with 98lb 8oz and Ian Chaplin with 98lb 12oz.

Pete Bowles leads the points table after 8 matches with 140 points followed by Graham Dodd with 124 and Dick Shillitto with 121 making up the top 3.

 

21ST AUGUST OAKFIELD FISHERY SWALLOW LAKE

Oakfiield Fishery near Aylsbury provided the venue for the ninth leg of the Remenham Summer Series with Swallow Lake being fished. With the lake slightly out of sorts it was Steve Johnson who took top spot landing a dozen carp on the pole with meat over groundbait on the inside for a total of 70lb 4oz. This was well clear of  second placed was Ade Bowles with 28lb of carp caught on similar tactics and in third place was Trevor Pearce with 26lb 10oz of carp and skimmers caught on the pole at 5 metres with meat and corn.

 

28th AUGUST MILTON POOLS CAMPBELLS

The following week it was Campbell's Lake at Milton Pools that was fished with the tenth and penultimate leg of the series. Pete Bowles won this match convincingly with an impressive 215lb of carp caught throughout the match on the pole short at 6 metres with meat and pellet. In second position was Graham Dodd fishing similar tactics on the far side of the lake and weighing in 128lb 6oz of carp and in third place was Dick Shillitto with 115lb 4oz of carp caught mainly at 4 metres with meat. Section winners were Trevor Pearce with 101lb 4oz and Paul Howard with 110lb 12oz.

With one round remaining and with each angler counting their best eight results so far Pete Bowles holds a narrow lead over Graham Dodd with 146 points to 144 with Trevor Pearce in third with 134 points Dick Shillitto fourth 130 and Steve Johnson 122 making up the top five.

 

4th SEPTEMBER WHITEHOUSE

In the final match in the Remenham Summer Series held on Whitehouse Lake at Tadley Pete Bowles secured victory with 55lb 2oz consisting of carp, bream and roach caught on the pole at 13 metres with maggot and at 6 metres with meat as well as on the inside. In second place was Steve Johnson with 52lb 6oz of carp caught on the pole on the inside with maggot and in third place was Brian Bowles with 34lb of carp and skimmers landed on the method feeder with maggot.Section winners were Mark Bowerman with 29lb 6oz and Trevor Pearce with 32lb 6oz Pete's win secured him the series with 166 points with Graham Dodd holding on to second position with 154 points Trevor Pearce in third with 151 Dick Shillitto fourth 145 and Steve Johnson 141 making up the top five.

 

11th SEPTEMBER  WOOD LANE (MATCH)

The following week saw the start of the Chairman's Trophy fished at Wood Lane Fishery at Iver and once again it was Pete Bowles who took the honours landing carp on a combination of the pellet waggler, the method feeder and on the pole at 13 metres for a total of 63lb. Dick Shillitto fished similar tactics also landing carp totalling 47lb 8oz to finish in second place and in third was Steve Johnson with 39lb 8oz of carp.

 

18TH SEPTEMBER  MILTON POOLS (CAMBELLS)

Pete Bowles continued his good run of form as he won the second leg of Remenham's Chairman's Trophy held on Campbell's Lake at Milton Pools. Pete fished the pole at 6 metres with meat before switching to the inside landing carp for a total of 148lb. Steve Johnson finished a close second with 144lb 4oz of carp caught on the pole with meat at 10 and 6 metres and in third place was Graham Dodd with 99lb of carp caught on the pole short with red maggot. Section winners were Paul Howard with 85lb 14oz and Trevor Pearce with 91lb 14oz

 

25th SEPTEMBER FROBURY FARM (MATCH LAKE 2)

Frobury Farm near Kingsclere provided the venue the following week for the third leg of the series. Steve Johnson was victorious on this occasion with an all carp net of 84lb 12oz landed on the pole at 10 metres with meat and paste and down the edge with meat over groundbait. In second place was Trevor Pearce with 63lb 4oz of carp caught on the pole across to the far bank with pellet and on the inside with red maggot and in third place was Ian Chaplin with 42lb 12oz of carp landed on the pole at 8 metres with pellet and down the edge with red maggot.

 

2nd OCTOBER MILTON POOLS (CAMBELLS)

Steve Johnson dominated this match the fourth leg of Remenham's Chairman's Trophy at Cambell's Lake at Milton Pools where he won landing carp on the pole at 6 metres with meat before switching to the inside with maggot over groundbait for a total of 178lb 8oz. This was well ahead of second placed Dick Shillitto with 100lb 2oz of carp caught on the pole at 6 metres with pellet and in third place was Trevor Pearce with 93lb of carp landed on the pole with meat.

 

9th OCTOBER BILLHOOK 1-15

The following week Billhook Lake near Odiham provided the venue for the fifth leg of the series as Steve Johnson took top spot once again with 71lb 10oz of carp caught at 5 metres on the pole with meat and on the inside with maggots and groundbait. In second place was Brian Bowles with 68lb 14oz caught down the edge on the pole with corn and in third place was Ade Bowles with 67lb 4oz landed on the pole with pellet.

 

16th OCTOBER CHERITON FARM

Steve Johnson once again took maximum points at Cheriton Farm at Farley Hill in the sixth leg of the series with a winning net of carp totalling 118lb 4oz caught short on the pole at 5 metres with meat and on the inside with maggot.In second place was Graham Dodd with 103lb of carp landed on the pole with meat and pellet at 6 metres and on the inside and in third place was Paul Howard with 92lb 12oz of carp caught on the pole mainly on the inside with pellet.

 

23rd OCTOBER WOOD LANE (MATCH)

The seventh leg of Remenhams Chairman's Trophy took place at Wood Lane Fishery near Iver and turned out to be a low weight match as the resident carp and silver fish were not in the feeding mood. Winner on the day was Ian Chaplin with five small carp and one skimmer totaling 16lbs 11oz all caught on the method feeder with corn. This was marginally ahead of Justin York with 16lbs 8oz consisting of small carp and skimmers landed on the method feeder with pellet and in third place was Paul Howard with 15lbs 4 oz of carp and skimmers caught on the method feeder.

 

30th OCTOBER BOWSAW (1-15)

The following week it was Bowsaw Lake near Odiham that provided the venue for the eighth leg of the series. Paul Howard was victorious on this occasion landing carp to double figures on the pole at 6 metres with maggot for a winning total of 128 lbs 5oz. In second place was 12 year old junior angler Joe Bowles finishing ahead of both his father and grandfather with an impressive 100 lbs 10oz also landing carp up to double figures on the pole at 6 metres  with corn and in third place was Dick Shillitto with 51 lbs of carp caught on the pole with maggot.

 

6th NOVEMBER MILTON POOLS (LENS LAKE)

The Remenham chairman's  trophy continued with the 9th leg at Milton Pools with Lens Lake being fished. Paul Howard secured victory once again with 23 lb 12 oz consisting of carp, skimmers and roach, caught both on the pole and method feeder with pellet. In second place was Dick Shillitto with 19 lb 14 oz of carp, skimmers and roach all caught on the pole with worm and caster and in third place was Steve Johnson with 16 lb of carp, skimmers and roach caught on the pole with pellet and maggot.

 

13th NOVEMBER HOLME GRANGE

The 10th leg was fished at Holme Grange near Wokingham winner on this occasion was Pete Bowles who caught carp on the pole and the bomb with pellet with a weight totalling  152 lb 10 oz. In second place was Dick Shillitto with 92 lb 2 oz of carp landed on method feeder with maggot, and in third place was Steve Johnson with

75 lb 2 oz of carp caught on the pellet feeder.

 

20th NOVEMBER WOOD LANE (ISLAND LAKE)

Last Sunday saw the 11th and penultimate leg at Wood Lane Fisheries with Island Lake being fished. Winner on the day was Steve Johnson with an all roach catch of 11 lb 8 oz caught on the pole at 6 metres with maggot and caster. In second place was Dick Shillitto with 10 lb 8 oz consisting of one small carp plus skimmers and roach caught on the pole across to the island with pellet and in third place was Roger Howard with 6 lb 12 oz of roach and skimmers caught on the pole with maggot.

With just one round remaining Steve Johnson leads the points table with 173 followed by Dick Shillitto in second place  with 161, third is Ian Chaplin with 146, fourth is Brian Bowles with 139 and Roger Howard with 121 making up the top five.

 

27th NOVEMBER MILTON POOLS (HOUSE LAKE)

The conclusion of Remenham's Chairman's Series took place at Milton Pools with the final leg being fished on House Lake. Roger Howard took the honours on this occasion with 15lb of roach and skimmers caught on the pole at 8 metres with maggot and caster.This was just ahead of son Paul Howard with a similar net totaling 13lb 6oz caught on the pole at 6 metres with maggot and in third place was Dick Shillitto with 12lb 10oz of skimmers and roach landed on the pole at 13 metres with pellet.

Steve Johnson maintained his lead to win the series with 190 points ahead of Dick Shillitto in second with 179 Ian Chaplin in third with 160 Brian Bowles in fourth with 154 and Roger Howard 141 making up the top five.

 

4th DECEMBER NEW FARM

Last Sunday saw the start of the Winter Series as Remenham visited New farm Fishery at Hawthorn Hill to fish the match lake. With a hard overnight frost all the anglers struggled for bites for the majority of the match only catching towards the end. Pete Bowles fished the pole across to the island with maggot landing six small carp totalling 5lb 4oz  which was enough for first place ahead of Ian Chaplin in second place whose four small carp caught on the pole with bread totalled 4lb 8oz and in third place was Mark Bowerman with 1lb 8oz consisting of one small carp and one skimmer.

 

11th  DECEMBER  CHERITON FARM

Remenham's Winter Series continued with a trip to Cheriton Farm near Farley Hill for the second match in the series. Neil Read secured victory with 38lb 2oz of small carp caught on the pole with maggot both at 11 metres and on the inside. In second place was Dick Shillitto with 33lb 12oz consisting of small carp landed on the pole with pellet at 13 metres and in third place was Pete Bowles with 30lb 12oz of carp caught on the pole at 13 metres with corn.

 

18th  DECEMBER MILTON POOLS (CAMBELLS)

The following week the third match of the series took place on Cambells Lake at Milton Pools.Paul Howard fished the pole at 13 metres and on the inside with pellet and maggot catching carp for a winning total of 65lb 6oz this was well clear of second placed Pete Bowles who caught carp on the pole at 11 and 13 metres with maggot totalling 44lb and in third place was Mark Bowerman with 34lb 8oz of carp caught on the pole with maggot.

 

8th JANUARY 2017 HOLME GRANGE

Remenham's winter series continued at Holme Grange Lake near Wokingham with the fourth leg being fished. The method feeder or bomb proved to be the best tactics on the day as the top three all fished these methods. Top spoton the day was Ian Chaplin whose all carp catch weighed in at 68lb 8oz all caught on the method feeder with corn.In a close second place from the next peg was Steve Johnson with 67lb of carp caught on the bomb and method feeder also with corn and in third place was Paul Howard with 26lb 6oz of carp landed on the method feeder with pellet. Section winners were Dick Shillitto with 25lb 8oz and Mark Bowerman with 17lb 8oz.  

 

15th JANUARY 2017 MILTON POOLS (CAMBELLS)

The following week it was Cambells and Chargoi at Milton Pools being fished in the fifth leg of the series. Winner on this occasion was Pete Bowles with 45lb 10oz of carp caught at 11 metres on the pole with maggot fishing on Cambells. Second and third places both came from Chargoi lake with Rodney Smith in second place with 22lb 4oz made up of 3 small carp along with roach and skimmers caught on the pole at 8 metres with maggot and in third place was Mark Bowerman with 18lb 10oz of carp skimmers and roach all caught on the pole with maggot. Section winners were Steve Johnson with 14lb 6oz and Mark Garnet with 13lb 10oz.

 

22nd JANUARY 2017 MILTON POOLS (HOUSE, LENS, SPECIMEN)

Remenhams Winter Series continued at Milton Pools for the sixth leg but with continuous cold weather taking its toll most of the lake due to fished had a thick layer of ice on top with only a small portion fishable so the match was spread across three lakes which all had small areas which could be fished. Mark Bowerman was a clear winner on the day as he landed skimmers roach and perch totaling 32lb 14oz as well as 3 small carp on Lens Lake all caught at 6 metres on the pole with maggot for a winning weight of 39lb 14oz. Second place came from House Lake with Mark Garnet weighing in 11lb 2oz of roach and skimmers landed on the pole with maggot and caster and in third place was Dick Shillitto on Lens Lake with 10lb 4oz of skimmers and roach.

 

12th FEBRUARY MILTON POOLS (HOUSE)

The next match was once again at Milton Pools but with all the anglers on House Lake. Mark Bowerman took top spot again as he fished the pole at 14 metres with maggot landing skimmers roach and perch weighing in 16lb 4oz ahead of Pete Bowles in second position with a similar net caught at 13 metres on the pole and also at 6 metres with maggot and in third place was Steve Johnson with 9lb12oz of skimmers and roach

 

19th FEBRUARY MILTON POOLS (CAMBELLS)

Mark Bowerman made it three wins in a row as he won the eighth leg of Remenham's Winter Series fished at Milton Pools on Campbells and Chargoi lakes. Mark landed carp on the pole at 13 metres with maggot and also on the inside with pellet for a total of 66lb 14oz. In second place was Roger Howard with 55lb 8oz of carp landed on the pole on the inside with maggot and in third place was Rodney Smith with 48lb 8oz of carp caught on the pole with pellet.

 

26th FEBRUARY HOLME GRANGE

Last Sunday saw the ninth leg of the series fished at Holme Grange near Wokingham. Winner on this occasion was Dick Shillitto who alternated between the pole and method feeder landing carp on both totalling 74lb 4oz which was marginally ahead of Steve Johnson in second position with 71lb 12oz of carp all caught on the method feeder with pellet and in third place was Trevor Pearce with 51lb 8oz of carp also caught on the method feeder with pellet. With two rounds remaining Pete Bowles leads the table with 140 points ahead of Dick Shillitto in second with 132 Ian Chaplin in third with 130 fourth Mark Bowerman with 129 and Steve Johnson making up the top 5 with 124.

 

5th MARCH MILTON POOLS (LENS)

Remenham's season came to a close with the final two rounds of the Winter Series fished at Milton Pools on Lens Lake and at Holme Grange respectively. Paul Howard took top honours on Lens Lake with a mixed net of carp roach skimmers and perch all caught on the pole at 8 metres with pellet and maggot totalling 31lb. Close behind in second position was Pete Bowles with a similar catch weighing 28lb1oz landed on the pole at 7 metres with maggot and in third place was Ian Chaplin with 27lb 12oz consisting of carp and skimmers landed on the method feeder with maggot.

 

12th MARCH HOLME GRANGE

The following week in the final match in the series once again it was Paul Howard who found himself among the fish landing carp up to double figures on the pole at 6 metres with meat for a winning total of 146lb 12oz. Pete Bowles fished the pole at 14 metres and at 6 metres with meat also landing carp totalling 137lb 8oz giving him second position and in third place was Niel Read with 118lb 8oz of carp caught on the pole and method feeder with pellet.

Bowles's second position maintained his place at the top of the points table ensuring victory with 163 points with Steve Johnson in second place with 158 Dick Shillitto third with 150 Ian Chaplin fourth with 148 and mark Bowerman 145 making up the top five.
